March 13, 2007

"Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed." 1Peter 4:12-13

Kyle is 3 weeks old today...at least that is his "chronological age". Preemies such as Kyle are given two ages: “chronological age” and “adjusted age.” Chronological age is counted from the time the baby was born - just as we age most children. Adjusted age (Kyle's is 28 weeks) is counted from the time the baby was conceived and then scheduled to be born. Adjusted age is what the doctors seem to pay more attention to and is useful when looking at developmental issues. For example, a baby whose chronological age is one year, but was born 15 weeks premature like Kyle, will probably have the developmental abilities of an eight month old.

Since Kyle is 3 weeks old today, I am posting my "straw" pictures to give you some idea of his growth from week to week. The picture with Madison holding the straw was taken today, the other picture with the straw was taken when Kyle was 3 days old. Kyle weighs 1 lb. 8 oz. today, this is first time he is above his birth weight! Other than his weight gain, there really isn't any new news to report today on Kyle. Hopefully, things will continue to be quiet until his surgery Friday.

We continue to be humbled as we read and hear of people praying for Kyle and our family. We are so thankful for you all.

God Bless You,

Jennifer, Joe, Madison and Kyle

Dear Jennifer, I hope it is an encouragement that Kyle has finally made some progress in weight gain. This seems to bode well. Those of us who are praying for him are so invested in his little future. Personally, as I look at the pictures you have posted and read the descriptions you have written, I feel as if I know him. When I awaken at night (at my age that can be a common occurrence)I find I am praying for him already. Please, know this will continue.
Thank you for the updates...they are precious. Laura Austin

Kupiec Family,

We just wanted to let you all know that we have been inspired by your strength that we know comes from the Lord. I have been and will be praying for Kyle and each of you. Stay encouraged that our Father loves Kyle and all of you more than we can imagine.
Peace in Him,

Hi Family,

We just love the pictures of the entire family. Madison looks happy and healthy and enjoying her return trip to sunny Florida. The compare and contrast with baby Kyle just shows you how much 2 oz. on a baby his size. He's filling out nicely! I'm in love with his knee and the ball of his foot (which was highlighted in a pic from earlier in the week).

I called the Daily Word, which publishes a monthly prayer guide with reflections for each day of the month and year. The have an immediate prayer when you call and will be praying for Kyle and the rest of your family 24 hrs. a day for the next month. There's not a second when the group is not in prayer. We're focused on a positive outcome for Friday's surgery.

Happy Birthday tomorrow, dear Jen!!I can't think of a better way to spend it than with your growing family. Many blessings for you and yours in the next year. We'd like to know how YOU are doing? How do you spend your days? Are you able to get out and about now that you have your car? We think about your health and well-being often...

Much Love,

Aunt Lynn and Uncle Bob

Kyle-

You’re too small to see, what you mean to me…
You’re too young to know, so much pain and sorrow…
Stay strong little buddy, although the world seems muddy…
Keep up the fight my friend; soon we’ll be together again!

Hi everyone
"A HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU JENNY" I just happen to see where someone said it was your birthday.

Madison looks like such a very sweet and very cute little big sister, know she must be so happy to get to see her baby brother, and be with you for a while.

Kyle looks like he has really grown, he look so good, wish I could hold him as I love babies.I am praying for him on Friday and know he will be O.K. the Lord has brought him this far and he is doing so good, he will be fine and then start growing like a little pig I bet after his operation.I'm also praying for you and Joe as it is hard to sit and have to see them go thru all of this, but the Lord will be with you every minute. "He said He would never leave us or forsake us" and i believe His promises.

Take care of yourself and remember "JESUS LOVES YOU" KLYE, MADISON AND JOE AND I LOVE YOU TO.
