“Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.” James 5:14-15

It was great being reunited with Kyle last night; we were able to kangaroo for 4 hours! He did really well for Daddy….afterwards; we were both warm and sweaty. Kyle looks so big to me...what a difference a couple pounds make! It is etched in memory how small he was when he was born. I swore I would never eat chicken wings again the first time I saw his nurse grab his leg to reposition him. Kyle lost a little weight, down to 3lbs. 3oz. This evening, his oxygen is at 38%. Please pray that the steroids will give Kyle the boost he needs to get off the ventilator and transition to CPAP.

Kyle’s platelet count increased to 47, he is getting a multi-vitamin with iron twice daily to assist with the platelet count. Kyle’s doctor also prescribed a sedative, Ativan every 4 hours as needed, to help prevent with the de-saturations he has been experiencing. This morning, Kyle became angry when the tape on his breathing tube pulled off his upper lip. As a result, his respiratory therapist re-taped his breathing tube. But prior to this, Kyle was flailing his arms like he was doing the breast-stroke in one of the neighborhood pools or maybe practicing to throw a curveball…..(remember to snap your wrist son).

I’m sure Madison is happy to have Mommy home. Madison had a soccer game this morning…I hear she did pretty well playing goalie!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my BEAUTIFUL wife for all she has done to help nurture our son. I am truly in awe of her strength and courage that she has embodied these past few months. You are our ‘glue’…thank you and I love you!

And to the faithful Kyle bloggers (KB’s), your prayers continue to be heard!

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Romans 5:1-4

In Christ Alone,

Joe, Jennifer, Madison and Kyle

Joe,
You are a great communicator also, just like your beautiful wife. It is so good to hear things from your perspective, and to hear your heart.

The new pictures are precious. It is good to see Kyle with his eyes open, as though looking right at us.

One of my college roommates is married to a minister, and they are pastoring in the Knoxville, Tennessee area. I periodically share what's going on with Kyle, and offer your blog site for them to view. We had an e-mail from them tonight that they are going to have special prayer at their church for Kyle Sunday. Kyle is experiencing how wonderful family can be, and you all are being showered with love and prayers from your families, but just remember that the extended family of God is also embracing and loving you through these times.
Blessings and healing,
Aunt Karen

Joe & family
Thanks so much for those great pictures. I to love to see him with his eyes open looking right at us all.He looks like he has grown so much and you can really tell when you haven't been there for a while. You did a great job writing as did your wife when she was there, she kept us all informed so well and I appreciate it so very much and know you will do the same now that you are there. I look at this several times a day just incase there might of been a change.

I hope and pray this medicine will help him to get off that ventilator and he can get on to better things. He is such a beautiful baby and can't wait to see him out and on his way to Ohio so you all can be together as a family again.

Glad to hear Madison did good at playing ball today and know she is happy to have mommy home, but will also miss daddy I'm sure.

Take good care of little bit and will all be praying for you all like we have been. We all love you.

Joe, Thank you so much for your tenderness and vulnerability. Kyle will have an advantage as he matures if he witnesses your strength mixed with appropriate softness! It is clear you love him deeply and I am certain Jennifer is greatly moved by your public outpouring of love and appreciation for her. I know the feelings and admiration it stirred in me.
All in all, it sounds as though Kyle is responding to treatment though there is still much uncertainty. Somehow the feisty demonstrations seem hopeful as well. It must be reassuring to experience the different elements of his personality. He obviously has energy and some self assertiveness---both which bode well for his fighting spirit. What a wonderful gift he has been! Laura Austin

We just love him! He's so much bigger than when we saw him just two weeks ago. Is he starting to develop the Kupiec cheeks? So glad you're able to spend time with Kyle and kangaroo a lot. It's a wonderful time to bond with your little boy!! Hope Jen is enjoying her time back in Cleveland. The weather is so fine. Love, Prayers, and Kisses
